March 2025 Bearcats of Character Recognized

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees recognized this latest group of students named Bearcats of Character for the 2024-2025 school year on Monday, March 17, 2025 for the character trait LOVE.

Love means that you value close relationships with others and being close to people. The character strength of love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships.

Congratulations to the following students, Aledo ISD's March 2025 Bearcats of Character!

Aledo High School: Addie Smith, 12th Grade
Addie Smith always shows the character of love with the way she invites everyone into our lunch table. She truly doesn’t discriminate and loves others well. She also sends people love no matter what and even helped pay for someone's Singing Valentine.

Aledo Learning Center: Kaymi Jones, 12th Grade
Kaymi was nominated for her consistent display of love through her thoughtful work ethic, kindness, and compassion toward both her peers and adults. All of the ALC staff are proud of Kaymi!

Daniel Ninth Grade: Kylie Jo Weber, 9th Grade
Kylie Jo shows constant affection to all of her peers. She is a great person to be around because when you see her, you feel appreciated and cared for.

Aledo Middle School: Harper Roberts, 7th Grade
Harper was aware of a difficult time that someone in our class was going through. She went out of her way to show that person love by bringing a sweet gift to them. I know personally that made the other person feel loved and noticed!

McAnally Middle School: Hayden McCulloch, 6th Grade
Hayden was selected as the McAnally Bearcat of Character for his wonderful example of what it means to show love and empathy.  Whether offering a friendly smile, assisting classmates who are struggling, or showing patience in difficult situations, Hayden consistently demonstrates a positive and compassionate attitude.  He has the ability to uplift those around him and treats everyone with kindness.  Hayden has a love of learning, love for his peers and an overall love for life!

Early Childhood Academy: Olivia Briseno, Pre-K
Olivia shows love each and every day.  She is a very kind friend to all students in the class. She always shows empathy and a willingness to help others. Olivia is very bright, but never brags or complains about having to review for the those that may need to hear things just one more time. She will take the hand of a friend that needs a little extra guidance when transitioning both in the classroom and outside. She shows love to all her friends and has a smile for everyone she encounters each and every day!

Annetta Elementary School: Rebekah Edwards, 2nd Grade
Rebekah shows love by being kind and caring to everyone around her. She goes out of her way to include others and make her friends feel important. She shows love by helping others when they need it and celebrating their successes. Whether through a kind word or a thoughtful action, she makes sure everyone feels supported. Her warm heart and thoughtful actions help create a happy and welcoming classroom for everyone!

Coder Elementary School: Adi Lerman, 2nd Grade
Adi demonstrates the character strength of love through her genuine care and compassion for others. She radiates love and brings joy to everyone around her. She is a positive light on our campus and is always willing to offer encouragement or one of her amazing hugs. Being her teacher this year has been an absolute joy.

McCall Elementary School: Finley Burroughs, 1st Grade
Finley's heart is so full of love and kindness.  She doesn't shy away from expressing her love for others. Whether it's hugs, sweet notes or simply saying those three magic words, Finley brightens the day of those around her with her love and kindness.  Each day as we walk to lunch, she passes her brother in the hallway.  She stops to give him a big hug and to tell him she loves him.  One of my favorite moments with Finley is when I called on her during a class discussion thinking that she was going to answer a question, but instead she matter of factly said, "I love you." Her warmth and caring nature makes her a beloved member of our classroom family.

McKinney Elementary School: Molly Joslin, Kindergarten
Molly is a great example of love in our classroom, and in our grade level. She loves her friendships in our class and offers kind words and hugs. She does this as well for her friends across the grade level. Her favorite saying is..."I'm a hugger!" Her warm personality and kindness make us all feel welcomed and loved!

Stuard Elementary School: Taylor Reeder, 4th Grade
Author Robert Heinlein said, "Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own." Taylor demonstrates love in the way she puts others ahead of herself. She greets her teachers with warm hugs, works hard to make our class the best place to learn, and shows that relationships with peers and friends are important to her in both her words and actions. Her patience, kindness, peacefulness, and self control are the personification of love.

Vandagriff Elementary School: Dennis Gordon, Kindergarten
Dennis shows the strength of love through small but powerful acts of kindness. For example, he loves to share hugs, high fives, fist bumps, and super sweet compliments with his peers and teachers. Dennis shows concern for others and does his best to help a friend in need. He does a great job at making others feel special and cared for. The class always tells me that, “Dennis is the kindest and nicest person we know.”  Dennis shows strength of love when he has a willingness to put others’ needs first, offering kindness without expecting anything in need. As his teacher, it is amazing to see these acts he does daily and so naturally. Not only does he show love and kindness, but he is the number one encourager for us all. I hope everyone can take notes from Dennis’ daily love and apply it to help make our world a better place.

Walsh Elementary School: Jonathan Valles, 3rd Grade
Jonathan is always eager to lend a helping hand and brighten someone’s day. He walks into school each morning with a smile, ready to take on the day with kindness and positivity. His caring heart and friendly nature make him a wonderful example of love, as he consistently treats others with warmth and respect. Jonathan’s ability to spread joy and encouragement creates a welcoming atmosphere in our classroom.
